Chumba Spins Debuts in Oklahoma Before Sweeps Ban
Published · Gamebridge News
Oklahoma’s ban on dual-currency sweepstakes games starts on November 1. One of the best-known brands is not leaving quietly. It is showing up in a new form.
According to SweepsKings and Deadspin, Chumba Casino emailed Oklahoma players this week. The email said promotional play at Chumba Casino is being phased out in the state.
The same email introduced Chumba Spins. It describes the new site as a place to play for real cash, “powered by live horse racing.” Invited players can sign up now.
Chumba Spins is not a sweepstakes casino. Both outlets report it runs on advance deposit wagering, or ADW. That is a type of pari-mutuel betting on horse races.
Here is the basic idea. A player’s purchase is placed as a bet in a horse race pool. The slot-style game on screen then reveals the result of that bet. Winnings go to a cash account that can be withdrawn.
The operator is not VGW, the company behind Chumba Casino. The site’s terms name Game Play Network, Inc., which also runs Horseplay. Deadspin notes VGW has not publicly explained its role.
For now the site is a closed beta. Uninvited visitors can join a waitlist. Its terms say it is authorized in Oklahoma, California and Delaware, and users must be 21 or older.
The timing is no accident. Oklahoma’s Senate Bill 1589 targets online casino-style games that use dual-currency systems. Lawmakers overrode Governor Kevin Stitt’s veto in May, and the law takes effect November 1.
Deadspin reports that no Oklahoma official has publicly said whether slot-style games that reveal race results fall under the new law. So this is a story to keep watching.
Our take: when rules change, brands look for new ways to keep players. Agents should follow the news in their own area and adjust early. Gamebridge supplies backends for popular fish and slot platforms, and you always get an empty account to check before you pay. Message us for price.
